Well, at the beginning of this ordeal a week ago, I said we would either cave to the
US
Trump’s demands, or we’d deal with tariffs.
As of right now, it seems like we caved.

Mexico’s National Guard will be deployed to the Southern border.

So much for the letter. Though it’s evident that we would cave, Lopez Obrador needs every economic tool available to rescue the economy, as it is slipping nearly into a recession. During this week two government owned energy giants; the electric commission and Mexican Petroleums were downgrated by rating agencies. We didn’t have space to move at all. The Mexican peso also suffered a strange free fall thanks to Trump.... Now lets see if he uses further tariffs as a way to campaign for next year’s election.
But lets not forget the real winners here; the politicians

Out of all the people in Mexican politics, he would’ve loved the most that the tariffs
were placed, Mexican farmers can’t compete with US subsides.

Yo se. The EZLN formed largely in part to the enactment of NAFTA. Totally fucked over poor Mexican farmers by filling Mexico with artificially cheap American food. Now the US is fucking over Mexico again. The lesson here is not to trust the US. Mexico has learned that lesson a few times.

Well, my government can be very macabre. I don’t think Trump has realized that 90% of the immigration infrastructure of the US is actually here.
We can close -or open- the floodgates entirely to make Trump look worse or better during the campaign.
When cops don’t give a damn about ethics, it becomes a strategic advantage.
On the other hand, since all of those migrants will return to Mexico -and probably to southern states- lets see if EZLN takes the opportunity to train them. Now that would be an interesting development.

Part of me would love to see Mexico screw the president somehow, but the other part of me realizes that when you wrestle with a pig, you both get dirty, but the pig enjoys it. I think bullies tend to be good at what they do.

Oh god, we’re already dirty. This fight is about who gets the better end of the pig pen. If and when it’s convenient, we’re going to fuck shit up. Why else would our secretary of foreign relations book a meeting with Pelosi?
Right now Obrador has to deal with internal pressures, but as soon as the economy goes back to normal
, it’s all bets off. It is in the best interest of the world that Donald Trump doesn’t win another term, and I cannot imagine the 2020 elections without huge interference from the people that want him to lose, and the people that want him to win.

Damn I wish your economy was doing better. I wish you could stick it to Trump. He is such a huge embarrassment
. 3 years and
I still cannot believe he is our president.
